Patient & Family Services  

The Care Services staff of The ALS Association provide patients, caregivers, family members, friends and healthcare workers in Louisiana and Mississippi a range of services to guide and assist in coping with and learning more about  ALS.

Multidisciplinary Care
The ALS Association supports ALS Multidisciplinary Clinics at Ochsner and LSU in New Orleans and Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. The clinics offer a multi-disciplinary approach to treating the disease with symptomatic relief, prevention of complications, and maintenance of optimal independence. By using a qualified ALS specialty team, families have the opportunity to receive the best available medical and therapeutic care in one location. The clinic meets high quality standards and is working to become a Certified Center through The ALS Association upon completion of the accreditation process. The ALS Association also partners with clinics hosted by the VA in New Orleans, Louisiana, and MDA and the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.

Durable Medical Equipment & Assistive Technology Loan Closet
The ALS Association loans medical equipment and assistive technology to patients to assist in daily living. The program loans or purchases a variety of equipment for patients as long as they are in need. We also accept equipment donations from families no longer utilizing their equiment.

If you are interested in donating equipment to our Equipment Loan Closet, please review the Equipment Loan Program Donation Guidelines and fill out an In Kind Donation Form to be given to the local Care Services team.

Group Meetings
The ALS Association hosts virtual group meetings to provide education and foster connections within the local ALS community. Contact us for more information.

ALS Resources and Library
The ALS Association has an extensive virtual library of information and provides this information to patients, caregivers, and providers as needed.
