Third Party Fundraisers: Simple event ideas that help in a big way
Are you looking for a way to get more involved in helping find a cause and cure for ALS? Is it lying heavy on your heart that you need to do more than just write a check? The ALS Association Louisiana Chapter is always looking for partners to hold Third Party Fundraisers. It is important that the Chapter raise funds year-round, and not just during the Walk to Defeat ALS. With our office dedicating so much time to this major fundraiser, any donors or friends willing to hold Third Party Fundraisers are helping much more than they think.
On Saturday April 5, 2008, Michelle Vannoy and Karla Coriel held a “Silver Social” Silpada Jewelry Show located at Vannoy’s house, which benefitted The ALS Association Louisiana Chapter. Events such as this not only present a great reason to socialize with family and friends, but also generate an awareness of Lou Gehrig’s disease amongst newcomers. If you are interested in hosting a “Silver Social” to benefit the chapter, please contact Karla Coreil by phone at 225.205.8813, or by email at karlacoreil@cox.net.
Is a jewelry show not sparking a flame with you? Do not fret. There are a number of fundraising events you can hold, and not sign your life away at the same time. Sports tournaments are always a fun and easy way to get friends, family and even the children involved. Golf, kickball, softball, and little league; you name it. They are all fun and raise a significant amount of funds for the cause.
Some fun for adults include poker tournaments, charity casino nights, trivia night at your favorite local restaurant or pub and a dinner party with wine tasting.
Are you active in a religious organization or a school’s PTA? Bake sales, raffles, car washes and garage sales are always great sources of funds. You can also look into organizing a musical or theatrical performance to benefit The ALS Association Louisiana Chapter.
If you don’t have the time to plan an event, you can always look into schools participating in a “casual dress day”, or a business with a large number of employees to participate in a “jean day.” With each of these fundraisers all participants have to do is donate a designated amount to participate in the day.
Whether you work in or outside of the home, have hours available to volunteer or not, there are always ways you can help raise much needed funds for The ALS Association. So by eliminating time as an excuse, I can’t think of another one. Can you?
